I thought this poem definitely expressed emotion as I kept reading this poem. The line I’m never surprised when someone calls me lady. They may as well call me a cleaning lady. I feel that the speaker is emotional to the way she gets treated and called, maybe she wants to just get treated normally like any other guest or person. The story of the voice to me sounds like she’s getting frustrated and upset especially when she says, It makes me want to give in, adopt these dozen cats and I get so nervous that I want to count my cigarettes so she sounds stressed, anxious, upset. Just so many different emotions throughout this poem.
