Right now I am currently working on my Lexicon and Reading List. I'm so worried about the Literature Review I don't have a lot of confidence in the things I do and I'm scared to misinterpret or misunderstand the work and go crazy trying to fix it or make it work towards a teachers standards. My Paper 2 might be focused around my favorite rrapper Playboi Carti in an effort to keep me involved and focused on it. My favorite term from the Lexicon is Apollonian vs. Dionysian it explains a lot more than I estimated it would.
Right now, I am mainly working on getting my portfolio in shape, and making sure my lexicon and reading list reflect expectations. At this time, I actually don't have any questions or concerns about this class -- the expectations seem very clear. For the second essay, I definitely want to use a non-alphanumeric text. I would like to use a piece of music as my text, but I am not sure what I want to use yet. I am interested in the use of gaps vs. silences, but also how that goes into what is said vs. left unsaid.
At this point in the class, I am listening to the final chapters of S Town and annotating in a way that helps me narrow down what I would like to focus on in paper 1. I am also consciously gathering texts to support my argument for S Town for paper 2.
I need to start working on the first paper, and I should probably bulk up my lexicon as well. My goal is to get a lot of that done this week and weekend. My favorite term so far is decentering - I think the most interesting thing about texts is what they DON'T talk about, since I feel like a lot of authors don't think about that as much as they consider what they are putting into their work.
I'm working on the lexicon and I guess I should also be working on the first paper because I just looked at the course calendar and realized that it's due in two weeks and I've managed to do absolutely nothing for it which isn't great. With that said, my questions and concerns would have to be about the first paper. I'd be lying if I said I knew what I was doing with that paper. I actually have no idea what I should be doing at the point if anything, so I'd just like to say I'm sorry for being a helpless freshman. I would also love to tell you that I know which text I'd like to use for…
