Poem One: Waiting for Happiness by Nomi Stone I chose this poem because I think there is a good deal of the "silence" that Hirschfeld talks about. explicitly, the poem is about a dog waiting for its owner to come home, but the unsaid implications of this poem are really strong. It is obviously a poem written by a human about an animal's experiences, and in turn this exposes much about human nature than it does animal.
Poem Two: My Father Did Not Intend (3) by KI Russell
This poem has so much lying underneath the text, and the direction of the poem changes as it progresses. On a literal level, it seems as if the poem is about an act of domestic violence. However, the absurdity of the language makes the reader question if Russell is using an extreme situation as a vessel to discuss something more nuanced. This causes the reader to question what the father and mother could potentially represent, shifting the poem's direction all together.
Your use of the second poem for indirectness was a great idea. I had read it before in my anthology and I felt like there was something more to this poem that wasnt being said. You explained it really well, I wouldnt have picked this poem for indirectness before but now I see it in a different way.
