Sam and Patrick's Logs

Sam

Jessie began the class by reading the poem “It Was the Animals” by Natalie Diaz. After a bit of confusion with who was supposed to compose the log, the log of the previous class was read and we continued on with class. Jessie reminded us how much easier things are to publish now versus in the past. We then began with the mini presentations. The presentation began with Kaitlyn showing the class a twitter post of a gif. The gif showed a middle-aged woman who did not want to wait at a store. Kaitlyn related it back to an experience at her job with Timmy. After Kaitlyns presentation Nico began his presentation in which he showed a clip of a YouTube video entitled “cc Bad Girlfriend” by Louis C.K. Nico explained his love for stand up comedy and expanded on how different relationships are now a days because of phones and communication. Jessie then took back over class and expanded on the tone, lighting and dressing of Louis in the YouTube video. We then experienced more confusion about the previous nights blog in which we were supposed to read chapter 10 even though the blog post said chapter 9… awkward. Then Jessie (the student) and Charlotte were asked to read their blogs and we discussed how choosing a genre for project 3 might be hard but there are plenty of options to choose from. Austin and Tommy then read their blogs and we discussed the importance of the use of all three rhetoric devices and how we don’t need to go to college to be credible or be successful (I should just drop out now). Jessie explained that we could use three different rhetoric devices for our project or just use one. Following this, we began an activity planned for us in which we had to give Jessie a topic and a genre.

Patrick

At 8:38 we began brainstorming with each other to try and create ideas towards a random topic. We went around the class, saying a topic and a genre. We then discussed with a partner our topics, before going into the random topics listed down. Each group picked a letter between A and S, and a random number 1 through 20. After we discussed each of our groups topics and genres that were given to us randomly through our choices of letters and numbers. This took the remaining duration of class.
