Nick's Log
We began class by listening to a poem by Joann Boswell titled Fluid. Then Lou volunteered to read Jake’s log from the previous class and Mat talked a bit about the importance of logs for those that do not show up to class. Mat also reminded us that we are only allowed four absences before our grade is in jeopardy. Grayson and Lilly did their mini-presentation together and it was about Red vs Blue Episode 65, which is a parody about the videogame Halo. Lilly and Grayson explained that it is a sub-genre of comedy that appealed to a niche audience. Next, Kayla lead discussion and talked about how she was having issues integrating her interview and overall structuring of her project. As a class we discussed what genre project 2 should be (narrative or research paper). Lilly shared that her interview was beneficial because her interviewee gave her a good amount of information. Madison also led discussion and talked her interview and community. Mat suggested that she talk about what it takes to be an Angel Mom within her community. Mat then reintroduced what a Blog About It assignment entails and mentioned how reading other people’s writing can help you with your own. We ended class with an activity about how to construct an annotated bibliography. In our discussion groups we were to come up with five steps or key points on how to do so.
