Deja's Log
This morning we had a guest speaker named Sarah Pierson from the Career Center. She told us how they offer help on a number of things like resumes, interviews and information on shadowing at the career center. Then Isaac read the log from Monday. As Armoni and Ethan gave their mini presentations Mat wanted us to write down a few things from their presentations for more work on text analysis. Armoni gave her presentation on a spoken word piece by Nego True called I’m Not Here To Tell You You’re Beautiful. The piece was about how in today's society people rely too much on random people’s opinions and likes for evaluation of self value rather than their own or people they actually know. We then discussed some of the deeper meaning through the writing and its relation to the video itself. Then Ethan gave his presentation on a trailer for the documentary Tickled. Everyone was uncomfortable. Ethan discussed the atypical form of the trailer and compared it to other trailers and its effectiveness. Nick read his blog post 10 where he ranted about the unnecessary need for textbooks, except for in this class. Lauren then lead discussion by asking if anyone was having any trouble on the text analysis, trouble finding a text relating to their community or making the word count for Project 2. Mat then mentioned how he would like us to use the text and critic the overall message our community is circulation to end our papers for those struggling to reach 2,500 words. We then ended class by getting into our response groups and peer reviewing each other’s work.
