On Monday, June 24, the class began with students introducing themselves by answering a few questions on the daily attendance flash cards.

Then Mat went over the syllabus. The areas covered were the three main projects, grading, course policies, and the daily schedule. An important note is that students are only permitted three absences, excused or unexcused.

Mat went over the homework for the first day. Students should record a response to the assigned reading, post it to Soundcloud or some other media sharing platform, and comment on the assigned reading on the class website. Make sure to include your name and a brief description of what you talked about.

Some discussion took place on ways of obtaining the required text for the class. See a classmate for more details.
